Scott Cole, traffic management specialist at Defense Logistics
Agency Distribution Yokosuka, Japan, has been named DLA Distribution’s Employee
of the Quarter for first quarter, fiscal year 2016, for his involvement with the
Transportation Protective Service program.
Cole oversees the execution of the TPS program, a new reimbursable
mission that involves the transfer of responsibility for the movement of
classified, controlled, and signature service shipments within mainland Japan
from the Air Mobility Command.
Cole conducted extensive planning with AMC, DLA Distribution, and other
stakeholders, which included funding analysis, identifying vehicle and personnel
resources, developing a concept of operations and inter-service agreement, and
developing escort trips and contingency plans. To date, Cole has coordinated eight runs, with a reimbursable value of
approximately $58,000.
In addition to the TPS program, Cole was instrumental in the USS Ronald
Regan’s successful return to home port. He
provided oversight, in conjunction with the Fleet Logistics Center’s logistic
support representatives, for the coordinated Carrier Air Wing Five’s offload, an
evolution that required more than 150 commercial trucks, and more than 55 trucks
for the Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department material.
“Mr. Cole’s uncompromising work ethic, dedication, and professional
acumen positively impacted the mission of DLA Distribution Yokosuka, Japan,”
said Thelmo Santos, director of DLA Distribution Yokosuka’s Transportation
Division. “He is an independent worker and
attains superior results. He is an outstanding professional who has earned the respect of his
superiors, peers, and subordinates.”
