PORT HUENEME, California –
James Foster, a packer
lead at DLA Distribution San Diego, Calif., at Port Hueneme, has been named
Employee of the Quarter for the first quarter of fiscal year 2016.
Handpicked as lead
packer during one of the biggest “bow waves” of calendar year 2015, Foster lead
the packing of miscellaneous cargo and sustainment items in support of the
National Science Foundation Antarctic research mission by providing distribution
support encompassing the packaging of over 1,200 line items of general and
hazardous cargo.
Additionally, Foster
directed the manufacturing of over 500 custom pallets and wooden containers and
building of over 1,100 fiberboard boxes for surface and air shipments to ensure
that transported items were adequately protected from damage during transport.
While maintaining open
lines of communication with customers to enhance organizational performance,
accountability and customer satisfaction, Foster ensured the contracted service
providers were indoctrinated with customer specific processes in order to ensure
optimum customer service.
“Mr. Foster’s
initiative, dedication and tenacity have enabled him to overcome obstacles,
pressures and demands that would have derailed others,” explained John Crandall,
DLA Distribution San Diego at Port Hueneme site director. “His vast knowledge of
DoD and commercial protocol has contributed to our ability to formulate a recipe
for success without degrading the service we provide to the
customer.”
