It’s never too late to prepare for extreme weather
Understanding Hundred-Year Floods Contrary to popular belief, a “hundred-year flood” is not a flood event that only happens once every 100 years. The measurement, according to FEMA, is not made by years. Flood zones that have been termed as “100-year” zones are actually designated as areas with a one percent chance of a flood happening in any given year. In this case, a hundred-year flood could happen this year, and again next year. (Courtesy Graphic)
