MCAS Cherry Point Navy Boat Docks conducts annual maintenance on 75-foot Landing Craft Mechanized ship
Drew Brookshire, a maintenance worker at a commercial boat-fixing company, sands a propeller shaft on “Oscar,” a 75-foot Landing Craft Mechanized ship operated by U.S. Navy Sailors assigned to the Navy Boat Docks at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Oct. 29, 2018. From top to bottom, the entire ship was refurbished at a commercial boat yard near Beaufort, N.C. From blasting the barnacles off the bottom, to applying multiple coats of paint and primer, to welding any dings and dents the boat has suffered throughout the past year; no blemish was overlooked.
