DLA Energy launches informative carbon pollution-free electricity webpage
Defense Logistics Agency Energy helped U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hood, Texas, with a power purchase agreement, or PPA, to install a solar array. The PPA is an arrangement in which a third-party developer installs, owns and operates an energy system on a Department of Defense installation’s property. The installation then purchases the system’s electric output for a predetermined period and allows the installation to receive stable and often low-cost electricity with no upfront cost. The on-site solar array installed on 148 acres will generate about 15 megawatts, approximately 964,892 megawatt hours over the 28-year production term and will offset approximately 10% of the load received from the utility grid.
