DLA Aviation Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Sean Tyler
Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Metallurgical Engineer Dr. Mark Watkins explains the test results of a thin nickel plating on a component of an aircraft pallet loading system to DLA Land and Maritime Deputy Commander Kenneth Watson and DLA Aviation Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Sean Tyler. “In this situation, the hardness of the nickel needed to be measured at a right angle to the surface of the test part,” Watkins said. “This requires careful preparation of the sample and a very small indentation using a specialized micro indentation hardness tester. The hardness met the requirements.” Tyler visited Defense Supply Center Columbus July 26 to meet with DLA Land and Maritime leadership and tour the Mechanical Product Test Center.
