DLA Aviation deactivates ahead of Weapons Support activation
Defense Logistics Agency Aviation’s final commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Patrick Launey and DLA Director Army Lt. Gen Mark Simerly (proceed to the stage as part of the arrival of the official party during the July 23 Aviation Deactivation ceremony which also served as a relinquishment of command honoring Launey, in the Frank B. Lotts Conference Center on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia. The deactivation of Aviation as a major subordinate command supports the establishment of DLA Weapons Support, which will integrate Aviation and DLA Land and Maritime, reinforcing the agencies’ transformative efforts to optimize global logistics for the joint force.
