MR.Shawn Lennon

Deputy Director, DLA Finance, J8

Mr. Shawn Lennon is the DLA Finance (J8) Deputy Director, Deputy Chief Financial Officer and the Director of Financial Improvement Audit Remediation (FIAR) for the Defense Logistics Agency, located at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He also serves dual capacity as the Agency’s Director of Resource Management. As the Deputy Director of J8, he serves as the Deputy Chief Financial Officer, a principal financial management advisor, influencing senior leaders in the Agency, the Department, and other Federal agencies, industry, academia, Congress, and foreign governments by maintaining strategic relationships, gaining trust, identifying and preemptively resolving critical issues on behalf of DLA and the Department. He is directly responsible for providing executive leadership and policy advice for the Agency’s $50 billion annual budget, and for leading the planning, execution, and sustainment of DLA’s three financial statement audits and the Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements No. 18 Examination for Service Owned Items in DLA Custody.

Mr. Lennon previously served as the Deputy Director for the Revolving Funds Directorate within the Department of Defense (DoD), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) (OUSD(C)) Program/Budget. In this position, he was responsible for leading the planning, programming, budgeting, execution, and audit of the DoD Revolving Funds; developing and issuing budget policy; and improving processes and controls to optimize the quality of financial information for the Military Services and Defense Activities.

Mr. Lennon started his government service with the Communications Electronics Command as a Department of the Army intern. He served as a budget analyst, staff accountant, and then as Director, Army Working Capital Fund Audit Readiness with the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Financial Management & Comptroller). He graduated from Syracuse University in the Defense Comptrollership Program Class of 2011 with a Masters of Business Administration and Executive Masters of Public Administration. He received the LTC Thomas P. Belkofer Award for highest grade point average and the Leonard F. Keenan Award for Distinguished Service. He holds a Level III DoD Financial Management Certification and Certified Defense Financial Manager - Acquisition and is a member of the Washington Chapter of ASMC. He has specialized in DoD Revolving Funds during his sixteen-year Federal career.
