Defense Logistics Information Research Program Overview
DLIR seeks to improve the quality, security, and interoperability of logistics data to further enable and streamline DLA operations ultimately providing more timely and higher quality parts to the Warfighter.
Strategic Focus
Support DoD’s Digital Engineering and Digital Modernization efforts and DLA’s Technical Data Management Transformation (TDMT):
- Interoperability: Ensure DLA operability with Military Services
- 2D to 3D: Digital data as the authoritative source of technical data
- Technical Data Packages (TDPs): Product models that include adequate 3D technical design, engineering data, and descriptions to support weapon systems throughout their lifecycle
- Defense Industrial Base (DIB)/Small and Midsize Manufacturers (SMMs): support adoption of Industry 4.0 and workforce development
- Infrastructure: provide a standards-based open system IT infrastructure that enables the digital thread, advanced cybersecurity, and protection of intellectual property
- Modeling and Simulation: use digital twins to identify process bottlenecks and root causes
