Captain Brown is a native of Slidell, Louisiana and a 1999 graduate of Northwestern State University of Louisiana where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Following commissioning through Officer Candidate School, he completed Supply Officer training at the Navy Supply Corps School in Athens, Georgia. He earned an MBA from Seattle University through the Supply Corps’ 810 Postgraduate Education Program and attended The Ross School of Business Executive Development Program at The University of Michigan.
His operational assignments include Disbursing and Sales Officer, USS John S. McCain (DDG-56), Forward Deployed in Yokosuka, Japan; Supply Officer, USS Donald Cook (DDG-75), in Norfolk, Virginia; and Commanding Officer, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Expeditionary Support Unit ONE, in Coronado, California.
His shore assignments include NAVTRANS Intern at Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) at Fort Eustis, VA; Fleet Freight Routing Officer, Commander, Logistics Forces NAVCENT (CTF-53) in Manama, Bahrain; Contracting Officer Representative (COR) Training Program Coordinator, 401st Contracting Support Brigade, at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait; Logistics Information Technology and Scan Eagle Sustainment, Portfolio Manager and Force Logistics Officer at Commander, Naval Special Warfare Command in Coronado, CA; Chief of International Movement Operations at Commander, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) at Scott AFB, IL; Site Director at Naval Supply Systems Command, Fleet Logistics Center Sigonella – Site Rota in Rota, Spain; and Director, Ordnance Logistics (N42) and Director, Fleet Readiness and Training (N4T), USPACFLT, in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
Captain Brown is designated as a Surface Warfare and as a Navy Expeditionary Supply Corps Officer. He is a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps and is a Joint Qualified Officer. While under his command, his team at EODESU-1 earned its first-ever Battle E in FY21.
His personal awards include four Meritorious Service Medals, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, four Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, two Army Commendation Medals, three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, the Army Achievement Medal as well as various unit and campaign awards. He has also been awarded the Saint Christopher Medal for esteemed Transporters and is a member of the Royal Order of Saint Christopher. Additionally, Captain Brown is the recipient of the 2017 Lieutenant General John D. Bruen Award for SDDC Field Grade Officer of the Year.
