Army Col. Dennis Williams II enlisted in the Army as a Light Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic in 1991. After selection to attend and upon graduation from Officer Candidate School (OCS) in 2001, he was commissioned as an Ordnance Officer.
His first duty assignment was to 225th Attack Helicopter Battalion, 10th Mountain (light) Division, motor pool, where he deployed to Somalia (Operation Restore Hope), Haiti (Operation Uphold Democracy), and Hurricane Andrew relief in Florida. Next, He was assigned to Maintenance Company 3rd COSCOM, Bamberg, Germany as the Shop Foreman. In 1998 he was assigned to 11th Armored Calvary Regiment, Fort Irwin, California as the Motor Sergeant for Maintenance Troop, Regimental Support Squadron.
After graduating OCS in 2001 he was assigned to the 83rd Ordnance Battalion, Okinawa, Japan, where he held several positions as the Deputy Material Officer, Platoon Leader and Battalion S2/3. Next, he was assigned to the 1st Infantry Division serving in the Military Transition Team as the Bomb Disposal Advisor in Iraq to the 2nd Iraqi Army in Mosul. He then served as the Commander of B Co, Battalion Executive Officer, 187th Ordnance Battalion, later the Brigade S3 in 193rd Infantry Brigade in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Afterwards, he was the 2nd Infantry Division Maintenance Officer, Camp Red Cloud, Korea. After returning from Korea, he deployed as the Deputy G4, 10th Mountain (light) Division to Afghanistan, RC-E. Next, COL Williams served as an Observer, Coach, Trainer (OC/T) at the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California. From June 2019-June 2021, he served as the 4th Commander of Letterkenny Munitions Center in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Following command, COL Williams was assigned as the Deputy Division Chief, Depot Maintenance, Army G4, Pentagon.
MILITARY AND CIVILIAN EDUCATION: COL Williams is a 2023 U.S. Naval War College graduate earning a Master’s Degree in Defense and Strategic Studies. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of Maryland, and a Master in Management University of Phoenix, AR. He also graduated from the Ordnance Corp Officer Basic Course, Aberdeen, MD; Combined Logistics Officers Advance Course, Fort Lee, Virginia; Intermediate Level Education at the Command and General Staff College Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
Among his awards and decorations are two Bronze Star Medals, five Meritorious Service Medals, Army Commendation Medal for Valor, the Army Staff Badge. He has been awarded the Order of Samuel Sharp, and also a Distinguished Member of the Quartermaster Regiment.
Williams is married to Robin. They have two children, Drew, a graduate of Queen’s University in Canada, and Cameron, a student at Purdue University in Indiana.
