NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania –
Defense Logistics Agency, Distribution employees and leadership gathered to wish a collective “Happy Birthday” to the U.S. Marines Corps Nov. 10, in honor of the service’s 241st birthday. November 10, 1775 was the day that the Continental Marines, later renamed the United States Marine Corps, was established and each year on November 10, the United States celebrates United States Marine Corp Day.
Opening the celebration, DLA Distribution commanding general Army Brig. Gen. John Laskodi presented awards to two members of the DLA Distribution Audit Readiness team, Victor Shluharchuk and Rose Snavely-Howe, for their contributions in helping DLA reach audit readiness two full years ahead of the goal mandated by the Secretary of Defense.
Following the award presentation, Laskodi explained how The United States Marine Corps fulfills a vital role in national security as an amphibious, expeditionary, air-ground combined arms task force, capable of forcible entry from the air, land and sea.
Laskodi then invited all current and former Marines to join him in a cake cutting ceremony, in which the most senior and most junior Marine assisted.
