Graduates on right pathway to career in warfighter support

By Alex Siemiatkowski DLA Troop Support Public Affairs Office

Fifty-six participants in the Defense Logistics Agency’s Pathways to Career Excellence Program took the next step to a successful career during their graduation ceremony at DLA Troop Support Dec. 13.

"I want to extend me sincerest thanks to the graduates for committing themselves to completing this unique program," said Army Brig. Gen. Charles Hamilton, DLA Troop Support commander, who presided over the ceremony. "Not only does it result in the career advancement of the participants, but ultimately it enables DLA to provide invaluable support to our nation’s warfighters."

The two-year PaCE program is designed to train entry-level personnel for advancement to the journey-level in professional, administrative and technical career fields. This is accomplished through on-the-job assignments, cross-training, rotational assignments and formal training.

Graduates are from DLA Troop Support and DLA Aviation in Philadelphia.

As they walked across the stage, the graduates were greeted by applause and cheers from family members, friends, trainers, supervisors and colleagues who supported them through the process.

Graduate Margaret McCann said she is grateful to be working at DLA Troop Support.

"I was excited to finally be finished and become a full-time employee," said McCann, a customer account specialist for the Clothing and Textiles supply chain.

Pam Latker, DLA training career management division chief, encouraged graduates to pay it forward in their career.

“It is your job to take on coaching those who are beginning their careers, and also be open to being coached by those who have also been in your shoes,” said Latker.

"On behalf of the millions of soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines out there, I want to thank you in advance for the great work that you have already done, and the great work you are going to do in the future," said Hamilton.
