Richmond, Virginia –
Employees of Defense Logistics Agency Aviation Customer Operations Mapping held a holiday luncheon for many of their children Dec. 20 in their office on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia. The children enjoyed music, and snacks while they made Christmas cards to attach to gifts purchased by employees. The gifts are being donated to children who are patients at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University.
The toys and cards will be distributed to patients by the hospital's child life specialist, whose role is to ease emotional stress, provide support and smiles through various activities that assist in bridging the gap between home and the hospital for children with serious medical conditions.
“This is a great opportunity to help brighten the spirits of children who are sick and cannot be home for the holidays,” said Heather Mays, a mapping program analyst and one of the coordinators for the event. “It also was a good experience for our children to learn about giving their time to help others.”
