Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Oklahoma City, Okla., has been named the Global Distribution Excellence: Barbara Doornink Distribution Center of the Year in the large category.
Oklahoma City refined their program to cut customer business hour delivery time for over 675,000 annual issues. They orchestrated on-time delivery of over 486,000 high priority material release orders and exceeded the on-time delivery goal of 85 percent by 1.8 percent and the 24-hour goal by six hours.
They ensured over 20 distribution centers in the DLA Distribution network received timely replenishments to support their customers by shipping over 18,000 stock transfer orders in two and a half days with a 92.3 percent on-time rate.
Their monthly analysis of breach, pick, manifest and delivery times ensured the timely delivery of over 110,000 lower priority routine stock replenishments to over 20 DLA Aviation Retail Air Force shop service centers.
Oklahoma City expertly created work around process’s that reduced customer wait time by over 60 percent. They also attained a 99 percent rate for the timely stow of over 215,000 warehouse put-away tickets.
Additionally, Oklahoma City attained a 100 percent accuracy rate for both the location survey and inventory for 215 national stock numbers in 243 locations, totaling nearly 2,500 assets valued at more than $112,000,000. These results were validated by on-site temporary duty headquarters inventory subject matter experts.
Packing and crating significantly increased output by seven and a half percent compared to the previous year output. The operational packing and crating work plan executed by 140 personnel resulted in the quality completion of over 264,000 work orders and generated revenue of over $10.5 million.
Furthermore, Oklahoma City has enhanced employee’s quality of life by adding free cardiac risk profile screenings for over 100 employees. They also were instrumental in increasing the Voluntary Protection Program stage two by over 30 percent. They also conducted 54 safety reenactments and published lessons learned.
The Distribution Center made repairs to the Box Factory Dust Collection System to ensure healthy work environment. They also improved warehouse lighting by replacing around 5,000 old inefficient lights with energy efficient lighting elements. They invested in a new ventilation project to reduce the heat impact of 80 to 100-degree weather for over 200 employees, as well as replaced over 350 gas heating unites with 223 infrared elements, doing away with steam heat in 14 facilities.
