Pentagon endorses DLA Energy Worldwide Energy Conference

The eighth biannual 2017 Worldwide Energy Conference, sponsored by Defense Logistics Agency Energy, has received the endorsement and support from the Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense, Logistics and Materiel Readiness.

“This world-class event will be held at the Gaylord National Hotel and Conventional Center at the Washington National Harbor, Maryland, April 10-12, 2017,” said Kristin French who currently serves as the Principal Deputy to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Logistics and Materiel Readiness for the Department of Defense. “This conference will offer players across the energy supply network to gain insight into and cross-talk ongoing and future initiatives including alternative fuels and renewable energy.

The Honorable Steven R. Iselin, acting assistant secretary of the Navy (Energy, Installations and Environment) is a keynote speaker for the event.

The conference’s theme, “Refining Global Energy Strategies,” underscores the conference’s goal to provide a forum for DoD leaders to connect, team service components and DoD customers and managers to product suppliers and distributers.

Private sector participation at the Worldwide Energy Conference represents the entire energy supply network from petroleum refiners and brokers to alternative fuel service providers as well as suppliers of natural gas, missile propellants, utility services and renewable energy.

“Conference attendees will have an incredible opportunity to learn from top industry and military experts about the challenges we face and how working together, we plan to forge ahead on a fast track into the expanding future,” said DLA Energy Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Martin Chapin.

More than 2,100 energy professions and 150 vendors are attending this year’s conference. Private sector participation at the Worldwide Energy Conference comes from the entire energy supply chain and both domestic and international partners will be present. Attendees will be able to participate in more than 140 workshops, including overviews of DLA Energy business operations, price reduction initiatives and current operation issues. Other panel discussions will cover aviation fuel, additive technologies and advances in alternative fuels and renewable energy.
