Prior to departing DLA Distribution following almost one year with the organization, Army Master Sgt. Cynthia Stewart received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal for her service from July 2016 to May 2017.

Stewart will next head to Ft. Bliss, Texas, where she will attend the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy.  After completing the 9-month long program, she will be promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major.

During her time with DLA Distribution, she served as support operations Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge while assigned to DLA Distribution J3 Current Operations. According to Ms. Twila Gonzales, SES, Deputy Commander, DLA Distribution, Stewart, “spent time mentoring and developing soldiers, a true testament to her leadership and professionalism,” during her time with the organization.

As the Support Operations NCOIC, Stewart flawlessly planned, coordinated, and executed all aspects of stock management and material control at the command level.  Her keen attention to detail was essential to the successful completion of all assigned tasks.  Stewart was selected to act as the executive officer for J3 based on her demonstrated leadership and willingness to accept additional responsibility.  In this role, Stewart managed the daily, weekly, and monthly production of the J3 staff consisting of 176 military, government, and contract personnel within two directorates and six divisions.  She expertly managed the organizational sponsorship program and was a true mentor for the joint enlisted staff.
