By DLA Energy Public Affairs

The Defense Logistics Agency Energy Middle East bid farewell to Army Col. Marc Thoreson during a change of command ceremony at Naval Support Activity Bahrain June 27.

Thoreson departs the organization after three years and will serve as the deputy commandant at the Quartermaster Corps and School staff, Fort Lee, Virginia.
In-coming commander, Army Lt. Col. Henry Brown joins the organization after completing his master’s degree in business administration from the College of William and Mary’s Mason School of Business.

“I am humbled and honored to lead the Command and will give 110 percent in achieving the highest level of excellence, while taking care of the team,” Brown said.

DLA Energy Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Martin Chapin presided at the ceremony and recognized Thoreson for his outstanding accomplishments during his tenure.

“Through his focused leadership, he deployed Quality Assurance Representatives on over 900 fuel missions,” Chapin said. “Ensuring 6.8 billion gallons of AVGAS, MOGAS, JP-8, and DF-2 [fuels] were delivered to CENTCOM component commanders giving them the flexibility to execute combatant command-directed combat operations and theater engagement with exceptional results.”

He provided Brown with a few words of confidence and wisdom as he took command.

“Lt. Col. Brown is well prepared for a constantly-shifting global business environment combined with the requirements of warfighter logistics,” Chapin said. “Command is a great honor and we select only the best for these positions. I’m confident that Lt. Col. Brown has the right skill set to maintain mission success in the Middle East.”

Brown is a native of Tucson, Arizona and before completing his degree, he served with the 3d Sustainment Command, Expeditionary as the Air Mobility officer in charge.
