Carolynn Michel, (formerly Carolynn Montgomery) former deputy director of Defense Logistics Agency Aviation’s Business Process Support Directorate has been selected as the 2017 DLA Aviation Hall of Fame inductee. An induction ceremony will be held at 1 p.m., Sept. 27 in the Frank B. Lott’s Conference Center on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia.
Michel, a Chester resident, served DLA for more than 37 years in various civilian positions.
Among Michel’s many contributions and accomplishments, she served as DLA Aviation’s Field Command Team lead for audit readiness. She worked to educate the workforce, challenged inefficiencies in the audit readiness process, and ensured DLA Aviation fulfilled its assignments in support of the fiscal 2015 audit readiness assertion. Michel spearheaded the establishment of the post-assertion audit readiness division within the organization structure.
In the nomination portfolio, Teresa Smith, chief data officer in the DLA Information Operations Directorate and Michel’s previous supervisor said, “Carolynn’s dedication to the DLA Aviation mission and success was impressive. Her knowledge, leadership and take-charge attitude set her apart and was demonstrated repeatedly throughout her career on very important, general officer-and flag officer-level projects. Michel retired January 2015.
