YOKOSUKA, Japan –
Distribution center commander Navy Supply Corps Cmdr. Nolasco Villanueva presented James Stewart, Receiving Branch materiel handler, a 50-year Federal service certificate, pin and letter from the DLA Director in recognition for his time with the organization.
Additionally, the site’s military members had the privilege of promoting one of their sailors. Recently, three of the organization’s sailors were promoted as a result of outstanding scores on a Navy-wide exam. However, the site’s military admin discovered a fourth sailor’s score had a negative discrepancy and submitted a challenge on behalf of Petty Officer Kevin Craig Jr., resulting in his advancement to Second Class Petty Officer during the town hall.
Finally, Villanueva announced Petty Officer Xiaoyang Xing’s selection as a Meritorious Advancement Program selectee, advancing her to the rank of First Class Petty Officer. The MAP allows commanders to select sailors for advancement based upon their proven readiness for the next level of responsibility.
Xing was also presented the Combined Federal Campaign Gold Award for her assistance with the site’s CFC campaign. The Gold Award honors commands with more than 75 percent employee participation.
