Distribution Norfolk leadership visits SUBASE New London

By DLA Distribution Public Affairs DLA Distribution Public Affairs

Prior to taking command earlier this month, DLA Distribution Norfolk, Virginia, commander Navy Supply Corps Capt. Andrew Matthews stopped by Naval Submarine Base New London, Connecticut, to meet with on-site customers as well as to mentor several young naval officers.

Defense Logistics Agency Distribution at New London is a satellite location to DLA Distribution Norfolk Va.  Supporting Submarine Forces, Navy and Marine Corps commands, and all major submarine repair activities nation-wide, the site provides receipt, storage, issue, packaging, delivery and transportation of stock material to fast-attack submarines and more than 50 tenant commands aboard Submarine Base New London.

Matthews was joined by former DLA Distribution commander Navy Capt. Harry Thetford, where they provided career guidance and personal experiences to a group of 22 Supply Corps officers.

Summarizing the meeting, Cmdr. Greg Booth, director of NAVSUP’s Fleet Logistics Center Norfolk Supply Management Department Mid-Atlantic North Division, announced it was “a great event for all seeking advice from two outstanding mentors and senior leaders in the [Supply] Corps.”
