PUGET SOUND, Washington –
United States Navy Supply Corps Cmdr. Michael D. Krisman assumed command of DLA Distribution Puget Sound, Washington, on Aug. 11. The ceremony was officiated by DLA Distribution commanding general Army Brig. Gen. John S. Laskodi.
A native of Seattle, Washington, Krisman graduated in 1998 from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and minor in Military Science. Earning a commission through the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps and following initial professional training at the Surface Warfare Officer School in Newport, Rhode Island, he reported to USS Leyte Gulf (CG 55) as the first lieutenant.
Following a second Surface Warfare Officer tour as the Auxiliaries Division officer onboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), he was selected to transfer to the Supply Corps and reported to Naval Supply Corps School in Athens, Georgia, in July 2002. His afloat division officer tour was aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) in San Diego, California, deploying to the Persian Gulf in March 2003. He served as the hazardous materials officer and stock control officer, earning his Naval Aviation Supply Officer designation.
After completing his initial Supply Corps sea tour, Krisman was assigned to USS Decatur (DDG 73) in June 2004 for his afloat department head tour. There he completed a deployment to the Fifth Fleet Area of Responsibility, conducting standalone operations off the Horn of Africa. His department earned two consecutive Supply Management Blue “E”s in 2004 and 2005. Krisman then earned his Masters of Business Administration at the University of Washington.
In June 2008, he reported to the Fleet Comptroller’s Office at Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet headquarters, where he served as the Overseas Contingency Operations budget analyst and earned his qualification as a Certified Defense Financial Manager. He completed his tour at Pacific Fleet headquarters, serving as a joint logistics planner in the office of Director, Logistics, Fleet Supply and Ordnance, and in April 2012 completed a General Services Administration tour to Afghanistan where he served as the United States Forces, Afghanistan multi-national logistics officer as part of the coalition forces support program. He completed a tour as the surface spares resource sponsor in OPNAV N96, Surface Warfare Directorate, and most recently worked as the material budget officer at Naval Supply Systems Command Weapons System Support Philadelphia.
Krisman’s personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, four Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, one Joint Service Achievement Medal, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and various campaign and service medals.
