DLA Distribution welcomes new Future Operations deputy

United States Navy Supply Corps Cmdr. Christopher R. Zegley has assumed the position of deputy director, DLA Distribution Future Operations division. 

Zegley, a native of Warminster, Pennsylvania, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida.

Commissioned an Ensign in June 1997, Zegley completed six months of the Basic Qualification Course at Navy Supply Corps School in Athens, Georgia.  His first tour was aboard the USS SHILOH (CG-67) home-ported in San Diego.  There he completed a 32-month split tour serving as both disbursing and food service officer. He went on to serve as stock control officer at the Naval Air Station in Keflavik, Iceland, serving 18-months overseas. 

Zegley served as Aviation Support Division officer aboard Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, supporting material requirements for two Navy P-3 Squadrons and two Marine Helicopter Squadrons. From there he went on to serve his afloat Department Head tour aboard the USS COMSTOCK (LSD-45) completing his second Western Pacific deployment. 

He earned his Master’s degree at the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California, with a sub-specialty in Contracting.  After completing his initial contracting tour at SPAWAR Systems Center in San Diego, he volunteered for a Global Support Assignment in Baghdad, Iraq, where he served as a contingency contracting officer supporting the training and advisory mission for the Iraqi Armed Forces.

Zegley went on to become director of Maritime Weapon Systems Contracting at Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.  There, he led 48 contracting professionals in the execution of critical repair contracts in support of the Navy’s maritime depot-level repairable program.

His most recent position was as DLA Troop Support readiness officer within the Subsistence Supply Chain supporting worldwide Class I requirements for the Joint Services.

Zegley’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, three Navy Commendation Medals and two Navy Achievement Medals. He is a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps and is DAWIA Level III certified in Contracting.
