NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
William K. Holz has been selected as director of Installation Support for DLA Distribution.
Holz is a recent graduate of the Defense Senior Leader Program and the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base receiving a master’s degree in Strategic Studies. Prior to his selection for DSLDP, he was the Director of Public Works at the U.S. Army Garrison Rhineland-Pfalz or USAG R-P in Kaiserslautern, Germany. As part of the DSLDP, he led the task forces that restructured Installation Command Europe and the subordinate installations throughout Europe.
USAG R-P garrison is the medical and logistics hub for the US Army Europe and part of the Kaiserslautern Military Community that includes Ramstein Air Base and Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. Holz has been active in the transformation of USAG R-P from an indirect to a direct garrison with the closure USAG Baden-Wuerttemberg. This resulted in the relocation of two general officer commands with multiple supporting commands. He managed over $100 million in renovations and repurposing of facilities to allow the final closure of USAG Heidelberg and Mannheim that resulted in savings of over $150 million in yearly operating costs. He successfully led the approval and permitting process of the new Medical Center currently under construction to replace Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.
Additionally, Holz led the negotiations with the US Air Force Europe 86th Civil Engineers that resulted in the transfer of Sembach Air Base to the Department of the Army. Sembach Installation is now home to several general officer level commands, to include IMCOM Europe, the Armed Forces Network studios as well the new European Confinement Facility. He held a variety of engineering positions primarily in the facility maintenance area ranging from the installations level to four-star headquarters. He developed and led the initial efforts in the A76 program for the U.S. Army Europe that resulted in the establishment of both outsourced and most efficient organizations at eight Army garrisons.
Holz is a native of Somerdale, New Jersey. Prior to beginning his career with the Department of the Army, he worked six years in the private sector as an industrial engineer after graduating from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He has a combined 39 years of experience within the Department of Defense and the private sector.
