Richmond, Virginia –
Personnel on Defense Supply Center Richmond, as well as all DoD cardholders, have the opportunity to turn in unwanted or expired medication Oct. 26 during Drug Take Back Day.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Occupational Health Clinic in Building 201.
This event is sponsored by Defense Logistics Agency Installation Operations at Richmond’s Security and Emergency Services and provides a safe venue where dangerous expired, unused, unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications can be disposed.
The service is free and anonymous. However, when disposing of prescription and over-the counter drugs, participants must adhere to the following requirements:
Preparing items for disposal at a Take-Back Box location

All pharmaceutical drugs that are being disposed of need to be in a sealed container such as the original bottle or a zip-lock bag. They may not be disposed of loosely.

Liquid pharmaceuticals should remain in the original container.

Personal information should be removed or blotted out with a permanent marker.
Items accepted
Prescription and over-the-counter solid medications, tablets and capsules, liquid medications, inhalers, creams, ointments, nasal sprays, and pet medicines
Items not accepted
Intravenous solutions, injectable medicines and needles
