Do you ever feel like you need a quiet place to relax your body and mind during the busy work day or before heading home? If you answered yes, Defense Logistics Agency Installation Operations at Richmond’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation Office’s newly opened Wellness Center is the answer.
The Wellness Center, located inside the Fitness Center, Building 33, D-Bay on Defense Supply Center, Richmond, Virginia, has several new services available to MWR patrons on DSCR. The aesthetically pleasing décor welcomes one inside, and once there, the fragrant aromas beckons one to move deeper into the center where two relaxation rooms, three massage rooms and a body composition analyzer are found.
Each of the relaxation rooms has two fully-reclining chairs and a small table with a low-emitting light. The center is a whisper-zone to create and maintain a peaceful area.
More than 11 styles of massage are available for a fee, said Will Marjenhoff, Fitness Center director.
“Massage therapy has many benefits,” Marjenhoff said. “It releases endorphins and enhances the mood of the individual getting the massage. It boosts energy, reduces depression, anxiety and stress, increases circulation and lowers blood pressure. There are many benefits to the therapy.”
Patrons may choose chair or table massages for 15, 30 or 60 minutes. The cost for 15 minutes is $16, 30 minutes is $30 and 60 minutes is $60.
All reservations must be made in person and paid for at the time of scheduling. Exact amounts of cash, checks and credit cards are accepted. The therapist has appointments available 2-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, the relaxation rooms are free and are open each day 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The body composition analyzer that can give individual’s their weight, fat percentage, fat, muscle and bone masses and body mass index only takes about three minutes to complete. Whole and segmental body analysis is available. This service is free.
