COLUMBUS, Ohio –
Based on the 2016 Culture Survey, the People and Culture Directorate Culture Council identified a need to recognize fellow associates for the great job they’re doing. Sometimes saying thank you just isn’t enough; and when that happens, the People and Culture associates go to the Tree of Appreciation Program.
This fun and well-received program was implemented in August 2016. The Appreciation Tree has 19 different awards recognizing a job well done. They range anywhere from the “Encouraging Word” award” to “Excellence in Humor and Entertainment.” If nominators can’t find a category to fit, they can come up with their own award. A new category was implemented this month, the “Couldn’t Have Done it Without YOU!” award, which is used to appreciate and recognize associates outside of the People and Culture Directorate for their hard work and contributions.
The Tree of Appreciate program nomination process is simple. Associates within the People and Culture Directorate fill out a PDF form and include a short recognition citation for the nominee. Once complete the nominator clicks submit on the form and the award is sent for approval. Nominees are recognized at the monthly People and Culture staff meeting with their citation and a leaf to put on the Appreciation Tree in the B224S conference room in Bldg. 20. They also receive a smaller leaf to place at their desk for display. To date, 13 leaves have been placed on the People and Culture Directorate Tree of Appreciation.
The Appreciation Tree is an initiative for the People and Culture Directorate. For more information on establishing an Appreciation Tree for your directorate, email People and Culture.
