DLA Distribution hosts USASAC international partners to foster foreign sales

By DLA Distribution Public Affairs

International officers hailing from U.S. partner countries visited Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, on Jan. 22 to discuss DLA’s global logistics processes and how DLA Distribution supports Foreign Military Sales customers.

The officers, representing nine different U.S. ally countries, visited the site as part of an orientation for their new positions as Security Assistance Liaison Officers assigned to the U.S. Army Security Assistance Command.

That assignment is part of an agreement between each officers’ respective country and USASAC that allows the officers to represent and assist in their country’s FMS cases onsite.

The orientation began with a DLA Distribution headquarters command overview, highlighting DLA Distribution’s worldwide network, the transportation coordination that the organization provides for all of DLA and a summary of specialized functions provided by Distribution, such as kitting and deployable distribution capabilities.

Following the overview, the group toured DLA Distribution Susquehanna, Pennsylvania’s Eastern Distribution Center, the Department of Defense’s largest warehouse, visiting the organization’s key locations, including receiving operations, the Consolidation and Containerization Point, the high-rise storage and retrieval system, and the air line of communication pallet build area.

The visit was part of DLA Distribution’s ongoing efforts to partner with warfighting customers and other governmental agencies to provide the right things…at the right place, at the right time.
