NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
Defense Logistics Agency Distribution commanding general Army Brig. Gen. John S. Laskodi has been announced as the next commanding general, Joint Munitions and Lethality Life Cycle Management Command, Joint Munitions Command, Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois.
The Joint Munitions and Lethality Life Cycle Management Command aligns three organizations to execute the Army's munitions and lethality mission: the Program Executive Office for Ammunition; the Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center and the Joint Munitions Command.
Laskodi, who will assume his new position this summer, has served as DLA Distribution commanding general since June 17, 2016.
Laskodi is a native of New Jersey, enlisting into the U.S. Army as a Combat Engineer in 1982 and rising to the rank of Sergeant. He graduated from Rutgers University with his Bachelors of Science in Political Science and History and a Teaching Certification from the State of New Jersey. He holds Masters of Science Degrees in Logistics Management from Florida Institute of Technology and National Resource Strategy from National Defense University.
His command assignments include the 402nd Army Field Support Brigade, Balad, Iraq, where the Brigade successfully retrograded all equipment from Iraq at the conclusion of Operation New Dawn; 189th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, deploying to Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom VIII; EOD Detachment of the 1st U.S. Army Support Battalion, Sinai, Egypt; and 38th Ordnance Detachment (EOD), deploying to Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm.
His key staff assignments include Director of Strategy, Plans, and Integration, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff G-4, Department of the Army; Deputy Chief of Staff and later Director, Commanding General’s Initiatives Group, U.S. Army Materiel Command; Chief, Enlisted Ordnance Branch, U.S. Army Human Resources Command; G4, Logistics Operations Officer for NATO’s Allied Land Component Command (Madrid), deploying to Iraq in January 2006 with the NATO Training Mission – Iraq; Support Operations Officer and later Battalion Executive Officer for the 561st Corps Support Battalion, deploying to Southwest Asia for Operation Enduring Freedom I then deploying with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) for Operation Iraqi Freedom I; Group Maintenance Officer for the 101st Corps Support Group; S3 Plans Officer and Group Adjutant for the 45th Corps Support Group; and S2/3 for the 17th Corps Support Battalion.
Laskodi’s military education includes the Ordnance Officer Basic Course, U.S. Navy EOD School, Airborne School, Air Assault School, Combined Logistics Officer Advanced Course, Logistics Executive Development Course, US Army Command and General Staff College, and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.
His decorations include the Legion of Merit with two Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Joint Service Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Senior EOD Badge, Parachutist Badge, and the Air Assault Badge. Brigadier General Laskodi holds the distinction of being the first EOD qualified Regular Army General Officer in U.S. Army history.
