PHILADELPHIA –
Two Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support employees with 68 years of combined service were recognized during a retirement ceremony April 26.
Connie Martins, a fabric worker with the Clothing and Textiles flag room, retired with 35 years of service. And Anthony D’Ambrosio, deputy director for the Construction and Equipment supply chain, retired with 33 years of service.
Army Brig. Gen. Mark Simerly, DLA Troop Support commander, thanked the retirees for their support to the nation and the warfighters.
“I also want to thank you on my behalf for all that you have done in support of DLA Troop Support,” Simerly said.
Martins learned how to embroider from her grandmother in Portugal and started working at DLA in 1983.
She said that the highlight of her career was working alongside her colleagues in the flag room.
“Thank you DLA for having me for 35 years,” Martins said. “I’ll always have very good memories of this place.”
Martins said that she plans to relax with family and friends during her retirement.
D’Ambrosio started working at DLA in 1985 but said that he grew up in South Philadelphia in the shadow of the Defense Personnel Support Center, one of DLA Troop Support’s legacy organizations.
“I didn’t realize at that point that I was going to have such a wonderful 33-year career here,” D’Ambrosio said. “I was always proud to work for this organization.”
D’Ambrosio plans to spend time with family and friends, and to travel during his retirement.
