NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
Logisticians from NASA began their late April morning visit to DLA Distribution with an overview presentation detailing the organization’s business processes and mission capabilities. After the presentation, the group proceeded to a walking tour of the New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, Eastern Distribution Center, the largest in the Department of Defense.
While at the EDC, they toured the areas of Receiving Operations & Processing; Storage, Retrieval & Sortation System; Air Line of Communication (ALOC) Pallet Build; Outloading Operations; CONUS/OCONUS Surface Staging; and the High Rise Storage and Active Item System.
The group, led by NASA Logistics Management Division Director, Olivette Hooks, was very appreciative of the tour and the information that provided them with insight to DLA Operations.
“NASA logisticians enjoyed the information shared, which definitely provided the group with best business practices and innovative logistics processes,” said Marjorie Jackson, Program Manager, NASA Contract Property, NASA Headquarters, adding, “We greatly appreciate your efforts to describe and explain your vast capabilities and how you accomplish the mission of meeting the needs of your diverse logistics community.”
