McGee assumes command at DLA Distribution Korea

United States Army Lt. Col. James M. McGee assumed command of Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Korea in a June 21 ceremony officiated by DLA Pacific commander, Navy Capt. Timothy Daniels.

A native of Hammond, Louisiana, McGee began his career by enlisting in the Army as an Infantryman in 1992. He received a commission as a lieutenant in the Infantry from the ROTC program at Louisiana States University, and received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2002. He also holds a master’s degree in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University.

McGee’s previous assignments include: chief of operations, 528th Sustainment Brigade, 1st Special Forces Command, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina; J7, chief of training, NATO Rapid Deployable Corps, Istanbul, Turkey; support operations officer and battalion executive officer, 407th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina; tactical officer, United States Military Academy, West Point, New York; J33 Current Operations Battle Major, United States Forces, Baghdad, Iraq; battalion operations officer, field maintenance company commander, battalion adjutant, electronic maintenance officer, and automotive platoon leader, 782nd Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina; executive officer and rifle platoon leader, Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Battalion (Air Assault), Camp Greaves, Korea.

Additionally, he served as a peacekeeper with the Multinational Force and Observers, Sinai, Egypt. He participated in the TF All American humanitarian assistance mission in support of Hurricane Katrina relief efforts in New Orleans, Louisiana. He deployed with the 782nd Brigade Support Battalion in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and as a logistics advisor on a Military Transition Team in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

McGee’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Accommodation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Medal, NATO Medal, Multinational Force and Observers Medal, Combat Action Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge.
