Enjoy a refreshing splash in DSCR’s pool

Employees, families, military service members and retirees can now enjoy a refreshing splash in the Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, pool.  The pool opened June 16.

Tickets are on sale now at the Fitness Center, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday – Friday. Acceptable payment methods include cash, check or credit card.  Daily passes are available for purchase poolside.

Charles Whyde said he wanted to open the pool Memorial Day weekend but had to delay because of weather, outstanding maintenance issues and lifeguard training.

“It’s a lengthy hiring and certification process,” said Charles Whyde, chief, Business and Recreation, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Office, Defense Logistics Agency Installation Operations Richmond. Lifeguard hiring and training began back in December with the lifting of the 2017 hiring freeze.

Pool hours will be noon to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.  The pool is open to all authorized ID card holders.   Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Portable showers are available and regular showers will be available once the Community Center renovations are complete.

Whyde said the pool will also be available to rent for parties.  For questions and more information, visit MWR’s website.
