Retiring DLA Pacific senior enlisted advisor honored for 26 years of service

By John Hamilton, Ed.D., Chief of Staff, DLA Pacific

Defense Logistics Agency Pacific’s Logistics Operation noncommissioned officer-in-charge and senior enlisted advisor, Army Master Sgt. Larry Hogan, retired after a 26-year career with the Army in a “missing man formation” ceremony at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, Hawaii, Aug. 14.

8th Theater Sustainment Command Deputy Commander Army Col. Rick Ellis presided over the ceremony.

“The one thing that hasn’t changed in the Army since you enlisted is the demand for senior NCOs who are tough, intelligent, dependable, flexible and rigid at the same time,” Ellis said. “Those NCOs are the Soldiers that learned through trial and error, under incredible pressure, in unrealistic situations, under unrealistic conditions, with little to no technology and no margin of error.

“Those are the NCOs that I admired and gravitated to, entrusted with my career, my safety and my family," Ellis continued. "I can think of no NCO that epitomizes that ideal of the NCO more than you, Master Sgt. Hogan.”

As DLA Pacific’s senior enlisted advisor and noncommissioned officer-in-charge, Hogan provided exceptional guidance and professional support on all matters pertaining to regional operations to DLA activities and their customers. He was instrumental in ensuring DLA Pacific’s continuity of operations was executed and validated each year, preparing DLA to meet mission requirements during a disaster event.

Hogan concluded the ceremony by thanking audience members and the key influential leaders who have positively impacted him over his career, and he gave a very special thank you to his family for their unwavering support.
