Distribution’s Warner promoted to master sergeant

Surrounded by family, friends and colleagues, DLA Distribution Current Operations noncommissioned officer in charge Army Sgt. 1st. Class Kahlil D. Warner was promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant during a ceremony Jan. 25, at the organization’s New Cumberland, Pennsylvania headquarters.

The ceremony was officiated by Army Col. Frederic Maddox, Distribution’s director of Joint Logistics Operations.

“Master Sergeant (to-be) Warner is a Soldier who isn’t just good—but one of our best,” said Maddox. “He is compassionate as a Soldier and as an individual.”

Maddox closed his remarks with advice for Warner. “With a promotion comes changes in expectations, responsibilities and of course pay. As you move forward following your promotion, rely on your family and friends to keep you grounded.”

Following a reading of the official order announcing Warner’s promotion, he was pinned to the rank of Master Sergeant by his wife, Anna, and mother, Cathy.

Warner followed his pinning by thanking those that have aided him in his career, especially his family. “Thank you all for allowing me to serve in this capacity.” 

Warner enlisted in the Army in August 2002. The College Park, Georgia, native completed Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Lee, Virginia, as a petroleum supply specialist.

His nearly 17-year Army career has taken him to Texas, Virginia, and Georgia, serving in a variety of positions, along with four deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and once in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, before bringing him to DLA Distribution headquarters as a support operations senior.

Warner is the recipient of numerous awards and decorations including the Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal. Additionally, he is a member of the prestigious FORSCOM Sergeant Audie Murphy Club, the recipient of the Quartermaster Corps Order of Saint Martin (Honorable) Award and the Infantry Order of Saint Maurice (Legionnaire) Award.
