Defense Logistics Agency Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams has announced the winners of the DLA Strategic Goals Award and DLA Employees of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2018.
Winners of the DLA Strategic Goals Award are:

Awardees were selected from among many superb nominations, Williams said in a memorandum announcing the winners to senior leaders.
“Their efforts show true dedication to our agency’s core values of leadership, professionalism and technical knowledge through their dedication to duty, integrity, ethics, honor, courage and loyalty,” he said.
Applewhite volunteered as an expeditionary contracting officer on the DLA Rapid Deployment Team and supported multiple efforts during the 2018 hurricane season.
Locklear, a supervisory contract specialist, reduced by $5 million the cost of improvements on 13 items used on the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet and E/A-18G Growler.
The DLA Enterprise Small Business Team exceeded the Office of the Secretary of Defense-assigned small business goals for fiscal 2018. The team maintains strong industry relationships that help generate innovative and efficient supply-chain solutions.
The JCASO team deployed nine personnel in less than 24 hours to stand up an Operational Contract Support Integration Cell at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, and Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where they managed contract activities, enabled command and control activities, and provided planning and coordination across U.S. Northern Command and service components.
The agencywide Suspended Stock Tiger Team reduced suspended stock by more than $35 million, filled backordered lines for almost 60,000 items and freed up warehouse space by sending $1 million in material to DLA Disposition Services for disposal.
McCombs, a police officer for DLA Installation Management at Columbus, Ohio, came to the aid of a fellow driver whose car was on fire. He enlisted the help of three men at the scene to get the driver out of the vehicle and to safety. He remained on the scene until EMTs verified the driver was responsive and transported to the hospital.
As a customer specialist for the continental United States Garrison Feeding Division, Hamlett coordinated deliveries to military customers, schools and tribes during Hurricane Florence despite being evacuated from her home in North Carolina.
Alexander, a contract specialist, converted a long-term contract to a performance-based contract that emphasized reduction in backorders to improve material availability for 1,300 items and provided incentive to the vendor.
