By DLA Public Affairs DLA Public Affairs

After a 5-year absence from the Defense Logistics Agency, Matthew Pausch returns to a familiar location — the McNamara Headquarters Complex at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, as DLA general counsel.

Since 2014, Pausch served as chief counsel for the U.S. Army Materiel Command Legal Center in Warren, Michigan.

He held four different positions at DLA during the past two decades: from 2005-2014, as chief counsel at DLA Disposition Services, Battle Creek, Michigan; from 2003-2005, as deputy chief counsel of DLA Troop Support, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; from 2001-2003, as associate general counsel for logistics in DLA Headquarters, Fort Belvoir, Virginia, and from 1989-1999, as associate/sales counsel in DLA Disposition Services.

Pausch earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, and his master’s in strategic studies at the U.S. Air Force War College, Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.

As DLA general counsel, Pausch is responsible for providing legal advice and services in all fields of law and regulations, including acquisition, ethics, litigation, intellectual property law, labor and employment, procurement fraud and environmental law.
