NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
DLA Distribution celebrated the Army’s 244th Birthday with guest speaker Dr. James Scudieri, who served the Army as a logistician for 30 years. Dr. Scudieri then became the Chief of the Military History Institute at the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center in August 2017.
Scudieri recognized the importance of logisticians in the Army throughout history. “Behind every great captain, there is an extremely persevering logistician,” he said. “In World War II, the United States aided Russians with 409,526 trucks, which greatly helped the war cause. No one else but the United States could make this possible.”
Following Scudieri’s remarks, current, retired, and veteran Army personnel gathered around the Army birthday cake. The oldest and the youngest of those Army personnel present cut the Army birthday cake together.
