SIGONELLA, Italy –
Navy Rear Adm. Yancy B. Lindsey, Commander, Navy Region Europe, Africa, Southwest Asia/ Commander, Maritime Air Forces, Naples, visited Defense Logistics Agency Sigonella, Italy, on a recent tour of Naval Air Station Sigonella.
Navy Cdr. Vincent Erno, commander of DDSI showed Lindsey through the various warehouses and the full complement of physical distribution services. Sigonella stands ready to support all four service components and other federal agencies, providing forward stock positioning support and enhanced physical distribution services throughout U.S. European Command and U.S. Africa Command. DDSI also provides expedited requisitioning and centralized receiving support to the military community throughout the Mediterranean.
During his visit to the "Hub of the Med," Lindsey had the opportunity to check out the new entry control point at NAS Sigonella as well as the other construction projects around base. Lindsey's visit encompassed Naval Air Station I, Naval Air Station II and Augusta Bay and, in addition to DLA Distribution Sigonella, included commands such as Maritime Patrol Squadron (VP) 9, Navy Munitions Command, NATO and the Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department.
