NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
During an afternoon ceremony, Navy Lt. Crette Hendricks, II, aide-de-camp of Defense Logistics Agency Distribution, was promoted to Lt. Cmdr. in the company of his family and co-workers Oct.1.
DLA Distribution Commanding Officer, Navy Rear Adm. Kevin M. Jones, provided remarks and administered the oath of office to Hendricks before promoting him to his new rank. Upon completion of the oath, Hendricks’ wife, Michelle, and children Crette and Aria, replaced his shoulder boards to the rank of Lt. Cmdr.
“It’s a good Navy day,” said Jones, commenting that he had promoted a sailor earlier in the day to commander. “Crette has been with us for four months—and it’s been good. He spent four years in the Marine Corps and then went to college to earn his degree. After college, he went into Officer Candidate School, then to Supply Corps School and he’s been hard at it with the Navy ever since.”
Hendricks was proud to share his promotion with his co-workers and his family and thanked everyone for attending. He went on to thank his DLA family for what they have done to help get him squared away in the last few months. “And I know, in some cases, I’m still getting squared away,” commented Hendricks.
He concluded his remarks by giving special thanks to the sailors, officers and chiefs who have helped him in his Navy career. In addition, Hendricks saved the best for last, thanking his wife, Michelle, for her support adding, “I’d be nothing without you.”
A native of Lynchburg, Virginia, Hendricks graduated Summa Cum Laude from Park University with a Bachelor of Science in Management. He also earned the “Outstanding Graduate Award” for his class. He received a commission from Officer Candidate School in May 2010.
After completing the Supply Corps School Basic Course of Instruction at Athens, Georgia, he reported to the USS CARTER HALL (LSD-50) as the assistance supply officer for his first operational tour. There he led 70 Sailors and Marines in all aspects of the supply operation onboard. During his tour on the CARTER HALL, he successfully completed a Supply Management Certification, two unannounced audits from U.S. Fleet Forces Command and a deployment to the 5th and 6th Fleet area of responsibility.
Ashore, Hendricks completed the Operational Logistics Internship Program while serving as the material readiness and finance officer for Naval Special Warfare Group One Logistics Support Unit. Additionally, he completed a tour as the logistics support officer and contracting officer’s representative for Navy Supply Fleet Logistics Center, Yokosuka, at Sasebo. There he led 35 Sailors and Japanese nationals in providing material, postal, bulk fuel and supply chain services to afloat and ashore based commands in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility.
In August 2017, he reported to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Expeditionary Support Unit TWO as the logistics department head. In November 2018, he completed a Central Command deployment as the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Expeditionary support element officer-in-charge and as the supply officer for Commander, Task Group 56.1 in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. He was nominated for the 2018 Vice Admiral Robert T. Batchelder Award by both EODMU SIX and EODESU TWO.
Hendricks’ next assignment is to the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, where, during an 18-month program, he will earn a Master of Business Administration with a focus in Supply Chain Management.
Hendricks’ personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4), a Navy Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and various campaign and unit awards. He is designated as a Surface Warfare Supply Corps Officer, Navy Expeditionary Supply Corps Officer and Static Line Paratrooper.
