Kashalla stated the he had more than 55 students in the class. A mix of Marines and civilians from several 29 Palms units.

“I elaborated on the roles of a DSR [Disposal Service Representative], the services we provide, proper packaging of material for shipment, information on some properties we do not accept, certain requirements for supplementary documents and the availability of RTD,” Kashalla said.

He continued by saying they covered forms and emphasized the advantages of using Electronic Turn-In Documents, or ETID.

One of the students was Marine L.Cpl. Joshua Smith with the 7th Regiment.

Smith has been with the Marines for three years and is a tactical vehicle operator. He transports troops and all types of cargo including cargo slated to go to DLA Disposition Services.

He said he received a lot of information from the class, some of it was review for him but there were some topics covered he did not know.

Kashalla said the class is part of an ongoing effort by the team at Barstow to reach out and inform units of the mission and services DLA Disposition Services offer and how their units could benefit from using DLA.
