Fort Belvoir, Virginia –
Unseasonable humidity and darkening clouds didn’t deter 77 runners and walkers, many in costume, from participating in the McNamara Headquarters Complex annual Monster Dash 5K Oct. 31.
Times were not recorded, but Alex Cano, a contract specialist with Defense Logistics Agency Energy was the top male finisher. Leah Beckett, a Fort Belvoir military spouse was the top female finisher. Beckett is part of the Fort Belvoir Military Strollers Club and ran the race with her two children in tow.
As if by design, rain held off until most participants finished. After the race, participants were treated to water and refreshments in the HQC cafeteria. The first 100 people to register for the event received t-shirts.
Prizes were also awarded for the three best costumes:
- First place: Catherine Draper, DLA
- Second place: Jodi Morioke, Defense Technical Information Center
- Third place: Kim Cope, Defense Threat Reduction Agency
