Navy, DLA officials discuss readiness, new Agency Synchronization Operations Center

By Dianne Ryder DLA Public Affairs

Defense Logistics Agency leaders met with Navy officials to discuss readiness during the annual Navy/DLA Day at the McNamara Headquarters Complex Nov. 1.

DLA Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams thanked attendees and emphasized the importance of partnership, adding that it takes a team to meet warfighter needs.

The event began with a tour of DLA’s new Agency Synchronization Operations Center for Navy Rear Adm. Michelle Skubic, commander of Naval Supply Systems Command; Vice Adm. Ricky Williamson, deputy chief of naval operations for fleet readiness and logistics; and Navy Vice Adm. Dean Peters, naval air systems commander.

The group discussed the ASOC mission and how the DLA Readiness Dashboard will continue to capture readiness rates of specific Navy systems. Peters and Williamson said they were impressed with DLA’s expansion of dashboard functions.

“I was here about three months ago and got to see the dashboard for the first time, and I’m absolutely amazed at the progress that you guys have made,” Williamson said.

Other topics included cost transparency, material availability, forward stock positioning and a snapshot of DLA’s worldwide support.

Service days help DLA stay informed of emerging needs and address systemic issues common to DLA and the services, Williams said.
