COLUMBUS, Ohio –
The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime participated in the inaugural Workforce We Need Summit hosted by the Department of the Air Force and Southwestern Ohio Council for Higher Education, held at the National Museum of the United States Air Force Feb. 24.
The summit provided a unique opportunity for DLA Land and Maritime to connect with the leadership of several local Ohio institutions of higher education to discuss workforce development.
Brenda Minnema, from DLA Land and Maritime’s People and Culture directorate, and Adil Zuber, from the Engineering and Technical Support directorate spoke with deans, provosts and directors from Bowling Green University, Central State University, Kent State University, Muskingum College, Ohio State University, Ohio University, University of Akron, University of Dayton and Wright State University.
Specific topics of discussion included how-to complete applications using USAjobs website, internships, full-time employment, career progression in the Pathways program, work-life balance and benefits such as telework, flexible hours, credit hours and exercise/wellness programs.
Members from SOCHE and Ohio’s first congressional district were interested in learning about employment opportunities with DLA.
This event contributed to DLA’s holistic strategic approach to address potential workforce shortages in the coming decades by promoting federal job opportunities in Ohio.
