SAN DIEGO –
Navy Command Master Chief Shaun Brahmsteadt, senior enlisted leader, Defense Logistics Agency, visited DLA Distribution San Diego, California, Jan. 29.
The purpose of the tour was to provide Brahmsteadt a ground view of DLA Distribution operations and meet personnel. Brahmsteadt toured DDDC’s North Island site and recognized a few key personnel with coins for their outstanding work accomplishments.
DLA Distribution San Diego, California, is located on Naval Base San Diego and performs standard distribution operations to include receipt, store, ship and issue, with related functions to include transshipment, preservation, packaging, packing and marking, Level 1 Sub-Safe Program, the Emergency Support Operations Center, Care of Supply in Storage, and reclassification. As a part of this mission, DDDC provides tailored distribution services through the Material Processing Center, which serves as a centralized receipt activity for afloat customers in the San Diego area.
Among DDDC primary customers are the home-ported ships in San Diego and the major shore commands representing all services, Fleet Readiness Center Southwest, Southwest Regional Maintenance Center and other smaller activities in the southwestern United States.
A large portion of DDDC business is receiving, storing and issuing depot level repairable for FRCSW, which is one of the Navy's largest repair facilities.
“We appreciate Command Master Chief Brahmsteadt visiting DDDC and taking the time to recognize some of our personnel for their contribution to the mission, and continued support to our customers,” said Navy Lt. Cmdr. Araceli Galvan, executive officer, DDDC.
“It was a pleasure meeting Command Master Chief Brahmsteadt and having the opportunity to show him our PPP&M (preservation, packaging, packing and marking) spaces,” said David Arehart, PPP&M team lead, DDDC.
