June New Employee Virtual Orientation

By Julia Jennings DLA Land and Maritime People and Culture

New ground was broken at the May New Employee Orientation.  The session held on May 20 and 21 was not in Building 20, but held virtually using a Defense Collaboration System (DCS) link.  This presented a learning curve for all involved new employees, presenters, and People and Culture facilitators.  The session got off to a rocky start when the program manager had a smart card issue the morning of the first day.  The People and Culture team pulled together, loading the material, getting everyone into DCS, and keeping things flowing.  The usual cast of NEO presenters were on hand and provided the new employees from Columbus and the detachments, valuable information just as they do in the in-person setting.  Holding the NEO face-to-face is preferable, but it was wonderful to see how resilient people are.  Lessons learned and will be applied at the upcoming virtual NEO sessions.

In the meantime, please welcome Ida Eley, Randy Gammell, Marcus Grimes, Joseph Rewak and Carleen Teeters to DLA Land and Maritime.
