By DLA Distribution Public Affairs

Demonstrating leadership and accountability,Joseph Henshaw, supervisor of the inventory team at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, is awarded the DLA Distribution Inventory Management Senior Civilian of the Year.

Under the leadership of Henshaw, DDTP completed their inventory, in some cases ahead of schedule, with 99% accuracy. Henshaw always maintained a “warfighter first” attitude as he maintained a constant level of inventory audit readiness and simultaneously implemented changes to enhance productivity and effectiveness for DLA customers.

Henshaw implemented a customer relations program with his team to build strong partnerships with joint agencies. Under his tutelage, his team met and built a strong rapport with Tobyhanna Army Depot, Logistics Support Activity, Communication-Electronics Command, as well as DLA sister agencies. His direct efforts enabled his team to bridge the gap in communications and foster better and stronger relationships.

Henshaw traveled to meet with U.S. Army and Marine Corps customers throughout the Eastern Seaboard to rectify issues with receipts and supply discrepancy reports, which had a great impact on DLA and customer relationships.

Henshaw serves as a mentor to his team reminding them of the importance of DLA, the impact of DLA services and always “Warfighter first.” Undeniably, his positive attitude and great customer service skills will continue to contribute to the overall success of DDTP.
