DLA Distribution Acquisition Specialist Schofield awarded Acquisition Civilian of the Year 2019

By DLA Distribution Public Affairs

For outstanding work performance in 2019, Acquisition Specialist Brittany Schofield, Defense Logistics Agency Distribution, received the Acquisition Civilian of the Year Award. Schofield, a highly skilled acquisition specialist and contracting subject matter expert, is a member of the Distribution Services East Team-Acquisition Directorate.

In 2019, Schofield was responsible for awarding and administering several contract actions critical to DLA Distribution’s mission. She administered contracts for distribution and warehousing support for DLA Distribution Hill, Utah; a voice interaction solution, known as a “Voice Pick” system, for use with the Distribution Standard System which was piloted at DLA Distribution San Joaquin, California; and a Real Time Location System for inventory management, piloted at DLA Distribution Red River, Texas. Schofield’s work is among the most complex and visible work at DLA Distribution Acquisition. The contract for DDHU is the largest at DLA Distribution for a contracted location. The modernization efforts are key to cost savings in operating our distribution centers.

Schofield is known for her close collaboration with acquisition team members, enabling DLA Distribution to successfully meet timelines for implementation of two modernization projects, Voice Pick and RTLS. Schofield’s work on meeting the contractual needs of the customer ensures mission success, whether its implementation of new technology, or ensuring that a distribution center’s service provider is meeting the terms and conditions of their contract to support the mission. Additionally, she also mentors new team members, helping them to understand distribution and contracting requirements which aided to the success of meeting requirements at distribution centers in Albany, New York, Cherry Point, North Carolina and Anniston, Alabama.

Schofield exhibits the highest standards of professionalism and maintains this attitude even when faced with adversity. When dealing with demanding customers and contracts, she maintains a positive attitude and demeanor. Even when frustrated with a situation, Schofield finds the positive in it and makes sure that her customers realize that she is working toward accomplishing their goals.

Schofield was recently assigned a requirement new to DLA Distribution: Chemical Management Services for the Air Logistics Complex at Warner Robins Air Force Base in Georgia. The services required are complex and the magnitude of the contract is one of the largest in the office. Due to the size of the requirement, valued at over $100 million, a Source Selection Advisory Council was required – a rarity at DLA Distribution. Schofield proactively conducted research to determine the roles of this group, ensuring they were properly trained and that all documentation provided to them was of the highest quality. Her work laid the groundwork for DLA Distribution Acquisition to be successful in other forthcoming, high-visibility procurements that require the same level of oversight, such as the Logistics Modernization Integration Support effort, which will encompass a large-scale modernization effort: overhaul of the Eastern Distribution Center at DLA Distribution Susquehanna, Pennsylvania.
