NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
Leading as the tip of the logistical support spear Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Yokosuka, Japan, at Sasebo has been awarded the Charlie E. Nye DLA Distribution Site of the Year award.
Over the course of the 2019 Talisman Saber exercise DDYJ received, consolidated, and shipped out over 3,000 pallets of material to the USS Ronald Raegan and the USS Wasp.
DDYJ successfully enabled the shipboard sustainment of the U.S. Navy’s first F-35B Joint Strike Fighter Deployment on board the USS Wasp and USS America. Over 200 material shipments, in support of F-35 sustainment moved through DDYJ, accomplishing the last “tactical mile” of sustainment that is inherent to DLA Distribution.
he Sasebo site was responsible for loading out over 4,000 pallets of material to support 45 replenishment at sea evolutions for 24 USS ships demonstrating the DLA belief of warfighter always in every action and step.
Through a variety of fluctuating situations and mission requirements the transportation branch at Sasebo still maintained a 99% on time delivery rate, far ahead of the DLA wide goal.
The team of diligent workers and military service members at Sasebo demonstrated the utmost in warfighter always mentality and dedication to the purpose and task of supporting our nation’s warfighters abroad and at sea.
