Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month Spotlight: Nicholas Bennett

By DLA Public Affairs

Editor’s Note: The Defense Logistics Agency recognizes April as Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. To honor the contributions of sexual assault response coordinators, DLA is highlighting those who work daily to support the agency’s global mission.

My name is: Nicholas K. Bennett

I am: A sexual assault response coordinator at Defense Logistics Agency Headquarters, Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

Describe Your Job in a Sentence: I work directly with the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response program manager to ensure the SAPR program functions effectively and efficiently.

How long have you worked at DLA? I began working at DLA in May 2020.

What is your favorite thing about working for DLA? I love the culture of the agency and how so many different directorates and the major subordinate commands work together to achieve the mission.

How do you make a difference? By helping to bring awareness to sexual assault, ensuring I provide victims of sexual assault with quality services and resources and by helping reduce occurrences of sexual assault in the agency by educating/training DLA employees.

Why is it important that we have a SAPR program? Sexual assault is a crime that not only affects the victim, but also families, friends, co-workers, and the entire organization. Employees and supervisors cannot be focused on the problem 100% of the time, which is why it’s important to have a qualified, highly trained team to perpetuate the goal of reducing, and eventually eliminating, sexual assault from our ranks.

What do you want DLA employees to know about the SAPR program? That inappropriate behavior in the workplace is not acceptable and that SAPR specialists are available to them 24/7/365 via the DLA SAPR Hotline at 1-800-841-0937.
